A punchy test with a nice cod
Big Røst cod for the Lecerf group on their first tripThere is something special about a group’s very first trip to Røst, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dimitri Lecerf and his crew from France. These guys come from the Normandy coast, around Dieppe, so they know the sea well at home. But the fishing up here in Lofoten is a different world, and they found that out fast.
First of all, the weather was on our side. Calm seas, blue skies, and long bright days made for perfect conditions all week. When Røst gives you weather like this, you make the most of it, and the group did exactly that. Big smiles from the first drift.

And the fishing lived up to it. The cod were there in force, with some proper big ones coming over the side, and the coalfish put on a real show too. Anyone who has hooked a big coalfish in these waters knows the fight they give, and the Lecerf group got plenty of that. Sore arms and quality fish for the kitchen. A brilliant mix for a first visit.

For a group coming all the way from the French coast, this was their first taste of what Røst can do, and it did not disappoint. New water, new species sizes, and the raw beauty of the island all around them. We have a feeling this will not be their last trip north. Once Røst gets under your skin, it tends to stay there.

Bienvenue à Røst, and thank you for the great energy all week. It was a pleasure having you.
Tight lines, and see you soon at Røst Fishing Camp.
