Some weeks at Røst just have everything, and Team Brunnberg got one of them. Eight Swedish anglers, seven days, and a list of fish that covers just about every species we chase out here.
The story of the week belongs to Ludvig. Seventeen years old, out with the group, and he hooked into his first ever halibut. When a 130 cm fish came up boatside, the whole team cheer up the rookie. But is he a rookie anymore? You only get one first halibut, and that is a serious one to start with. Welcome to the club, Ludvig.
The rest of the week kept up to the expectations. The cod were everywhere, topped by a 20 kg beast sitting on a huge pile of fish.
The coalfish schools are endless this year again, the best of them 13 kg, the kind that leaves your reel screaming and your arms shaking. Add a 9 kg ling and even a 2 kg redfish for the collection, and you have just about the full Røst house in a single week.
By the end of the trip the group had put eight halibut in the boat between them, on top of all that cod and coalfish. Big numbers, even bigger smiles. Team Brunnberg fished hard every single day, and the sea paid them back. That is exactly the kind of week that keeps anglers coming back to Røst year after year. And maybe next time the dream of breaking the camp record of 249 cm will happen?
